YOUTH MUSIC CAMP

IMG_0430.jpeg

The annual Youth Music Camp provides training in choir singing, keyboard playing, basic music theory, and dance, along with times of worship, Bible study, and games.  Ages 15-25 are invited, but a few younger and older join us, as well.  This popular week allows our advanced students to teach and oversee the training of less-experienced young musicians.  We've had the assistance of missionary Stephanie Biggs and Tanzanian performer/recording artist Stephen Chuchubringing local and youthful expressions in music, drama, and dance to the camp.

Here is the August, 2023 Youth Camp Choir singing Reuben Kigame's Ende Nasi, led by one of our Assistant Teachers Benard Otieno.

Stephanie Biggs

Stephanie Biggs works to empower and disciple local artists and the arts that they create, especially so that God's glory shines brighter and deeper in every community. With an MA in Ethnomusicology from Bethel University and BAs in Music and Religious Studies from University of the Pacific, she has 10+ years of experience traveling, living, and working mostly in Asia, Africa, and the US. Tanzania has been Stephanie's home since early 2015. In addition to the ministry God has given her there in the Mara, Simiyu, and Kagera Regions, she most enjoys making music with all the amazing musicians she knows.

Steven Chuchu

My name is Steven Chuchu, and I am an evangelist, teacher, preacher, assistant pastor, singer, and songwriter from Tanzania. Mostly I am involved with church choirs, composing songs, teaching, and mentoring choir members for God's glory since 2005. I also lead praise and worship and play keyboard, as well as sing and preach the Word of God at other churches and in seminars and crusades. Me and my wife are currently serving God and raising our four children in Mara Region, Tanzania. I am grateful for this opportunity to build God's kingdom.
